RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS

Rhythmic Gymnastics is an Olympic sport which combines a unique mixture of elements from classical ballet, modern dance and acrobatics. These aspects are brought together into routines which are performed while the gymnast is skillfully handling one of the five rhythmic apparatus - rope, hoop, ball, clubs or ribbon.

The sport will help to develop flexibility, strength and posture, enhance co-ordination and agility, develop creativity and build self-confidence. Rhythmic Gymnastics is the perfect sport to teach body awareness and control - skills that will assist in the development of athletic potential for any sporting endeavour.

WEST LONDON GYMNASTICS

West London Gymnastics will provide a safe and supportive environment to encourage hard work and creativity amongst participants. WLG will aim to improve gymnasts’ agility, coordination, flexibility and strength to advance performance and confidence. Lessons will be challenging but also fun and adapted to meet the needs of each individual. The club will develop participants from beginner, participation level, to reaching their full potential in the sport.

Getting involved in gymnastics couldn’t be easier. You don’t need any special equipment, just your body and a desire to learn. We run sessions for all abilities. So why not check out our timetable and get in touch today?

Classes

CLASSES

BEGINNER

Suitable for beginners or members new to gymnastics aged between 4 – 9. Sessions are 1 hour long, once per week.

PRE SQUAD

Suitable for gymnasts with some experience of gymnastics or gymnasts who show the abilities needed to work at this level. Sessions are 1 hour with the option to join once or twice a week.

Beginner and Pre-Squad level is where most gymnasts will gain their first experience of the sport. This gymnastics programme is designed to engage children in gymnastics in a fun and friendly way. The aim is to develop your child’s physical literacy skills through gymnastics. This means that we will develop their strength, flexibility, coordination, fitness and confidence. Whether children continue with gymnastics or wish to specialise in another sport, their experience at WLG will provide them with an excellent basis for progression.

If you wish to sign your child up to one of our classes, please contact us to arrange a trial lesson.

CLUB SQUAD

Our Club Squad programme is by invitation only. Gymnasts are working at club level and regional level competitions.

ELITE SQUAD

Our Elite Squad programme is by invitation only. Gymnasts are working at national and international level.

Our Club Squad and Elite Squad programme is for children who show certain attributes required for rhythmic gymnastics, including: flexibility/strength, coordination, body type/shape, confidence and attitude. After being selected your child will be encouraged to challenge themselves and work on perfecting skills rather than simply achieving them. Physical preparation is a focus in every session and your child will be continually monitored to see how they adapt to the change in training.
